Audacity is an excellent free software you can use on any operating system to record and edit audio. You can install Audacity on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux and it looks and works the same on each operating system. You can use Audacity to create podcasts, record interviews, remix music and more! Audacity is free software and has an excellent reputation for being one of the most well established desktop audio recorders and mixers around. This book is aimed at getting new users started with this excellent software and covers installing the software on each operating system, an introduction to the interface, configuring Audacity, recording, mixing, and many other aspects that you need to know to get the best out of the software.
The process included collaboratively writing the Audacity manual online and publishing it as a HTML manual and PDF, then copying the material from the online manual and tweaking it to a format suitable for printing. We put quite some time into the design to keep in simple and attractive, and trying to make it look unlike any other technical manual available.
Its an experiment in collaboratively authoring material online and then utilising that content to produce books. We are not sure where this is leading just yet but we are excited to find out! This book can be purchased at cost price, it helps to get it out to those that want to learn how to use Audacity.
At the FlOSS Manuals repository you can contribute to this or other manuals and we hope to continue publishing books to help people use Audacity and other free softwares.
FLOSS Manuals makes no profit on selling manuals. You can purchase this printed manual at cost price (€5.87 / $7.25 USD). |
